Thai'S Pan Pacific petanque champions

THAILAND beat Vietnam 13-2 to emerge champions of the 7th Pan Pacific Petanque Championship yesterday. Brunei Darussalam and Indonesia were joint third in the competition.
Thailland’s Kiatkong Tanong, Wattananchai Sonthung, Anu Pong Sukarom and Thanakorn Sangkaew beat Brunei 3, Indonesia and Vietnam to claim the championship title.

Brunei 7 team of, Hj Yussof bin Mohammad, Junaidi bin Hj Ali and Hamidun Hj Abd Hamid, were placed third in the championship.
In the Nation’s Cup, Malaysia were champions after beating Brunei 13-1. Indonesia and Singapore shared the third position.
Brunei’s Pg Hj Asmalina Pg Hj Jaya, Hj Mat Rasil Hj Ahmad and Asli bin Hj Md Said said their practice was not in vain and could be seen in the standings where 4 out of 7 teams representing Brunei Darussalam made it to the quarterfinals in the Pan Pacific Championship while the other three teams were selected for the Nation’s Cup.
Minister of Industry and Primary Resources, Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Utama Dato Seri Setia Awang Hj Yahya bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Hj Bakar, attended the championship to cheer and give moral support to the Brunei teams.
Meanwhile, President of the Brunei Petanque Federation Lt Col (Rtd) Pg Mohd Noor Pg Hj Muhidi said the results were a testament to the hard work and dedication of the players and coaches.
